It's the end of the semester and I look back on myself when I stepped through the doors to begin my first Education Technology class. I am a totally different student! When I first started this class I didn't even know how to do a PowerPoint! My attitude was that although I was certainly going to try my best in this class, I wasn't sure anyone would be able to make me computer literate. I am glad to say that at the conclusion of the semester, I feel confident I can not only provide my students with creative and colorful PowerPoints but I can do a gradebook, create a webpage and do a class newsletter.
I really love when I take a class and I come away from it feeling as though I have learned information that will enhance my prospective teaching career and will be useful in the classroom. This class was definitely like this! I won't walk into the class feeling as if the students are light years ahead of me when it comes to technology! I AM NO LONGER REMEDIAL!!! And it's a great feeling! I definitely want to thank Dr. Wang for having the utmost patient with my remedial questions when I'm sure she HAD to be silently chuckling inside! Where I walked into the class as pessimist, I have emerged an optimist and I owe a great amount of that to Dr. Wang! Thank you Dr. Wang for having the patience of Job!
Lastly, I really love meeting new people and I have definitely met people who have been in the trenches with me through my quest to be "techno-literate". It was fun to see other students' creations as they navigated the technological waters with me! I also was able to get some great ideas from other students, which I believe is the greatest form of flattery!!!
All in all, I really am glad this class was on my required list because otherwise I might have steered clear in fear of failing. I believe every prospective teacher should take this class because as we advance into the computer age, it is essential that we have as much information as we can, and am able to incorporate it into our class instruction as much as possible. Again, thanks Dr. Wang and I am soooo glad I took your class!
